The “proper to combat local weather change” – is that true?
Guest “You Can’t Fix Stupid” by David Middleton
While RealClearEnergy almost always has at least a few links to good articles that actually relate to energy, it almost always has a few links to really idiotic articles that have nothing to do with energy. Today was not a disappointment …
Restoring Financial Regulators’ Right to Combat Climate Change, Gizmodo
After reading the U.S. Constitution at least a couple of times, all I had to do was click the link to see if it explained how regulators got that right in the first place, who took it away, and how something never got it gave, could possibly be restored …

This Earther report is published together with the Daily Poster.
The Biden government has pledged to make the climate crisis a hot topic and empowered an “entire government” to face climate change. This would mean that responsibility for environmental legislation would not only be left to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, but would extend to all agencies, including financial regulators.

And as far as I’ve read … It’s an article that actually packed more stupidly into a paragraph than I could ever have imagined to be humanly possible. The headline triggered warnings from both Ron White and Billy Madison, and it triggered the 21 Jump Street switch for the first time …
Jenko:
[is asked if he knows the Miranda Rights] Look, it obviously starts with … you have the right to be silent …
Schmidt:
[whispers] You have the right to a lawyer.
Jenko:
You have the right … to remain a lawyer.
Deputy Chef Hardy:
Did you just say you have the right to be a lawyer?
Schmidt:
You have the right to be a lawyer if you want to.
21 Jump Street, 2012
You have the right to fight climate change if you want …
Which document gave the supervisory authorities special rights? “Regulators” have legal powers to regulate … There is no specific right of regulators to fight climate change. That’s 21 Jump Street stupid. It is as stupid as if Cervantes had written: “Restoring Don Quixote’s right to tip windmills.”
With such an intriguingly stupid headline, all I had to do was click the link and the first paragraph was Billy Madison on stupid steroids …
This would mean that responsibility for environmental legislation would not only be left to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, but would extend to all agencies, including financial regulators.

The same document, which does not grant “regulators” any special rights, also denies legislative power to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Ministry of Energy, all other authorities and regulators …
All legislative powers granted herein are conferred on a United States Congress composed of a Senate and a House of Representatives.
U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 1.
This passage is not difficult to find. It’s not like reading The Federalist Papers … It’s the first fracking paragraph after the preamble.
Dharna and Walker are hereby awarded the Lifetime Achievement Awards of Ron White and Billy Madison and the first 21 Jump Street Jenko gold medal.
