State-by-State Information to COVID Vaccine Data
December 24, 2020 – People wanting to get a COVID-19 vaccine need to be patient.
Although some political figures and celebrities have already received the vaccine, it will take longer to spread to the public. On the recommendation of the federal government, each state has set priorities as to who will receive the vaccine first. Currently, states are rolling out the vaccine into categories as needed.
Healthcare workers and people living in nursing homes are a top priority and received the vaccine in mid-December. Next come people aged 75 and over, as well as key employees such as first aiders. High-risk adults between 65 and 75 years of age and younger people (between 16 and 64 years of age) and other key workers will receive the vaccine in the next phase.
Provided there’s enough vaccine to get around after it, everyone else can get one, probably sometime in late spring or early summer. As of now, the vaccine is available to the public in most pharmacy chains such as CVS, Walgreens and others. together with retail pharmacies at Costco, Kroger, Target, Publix, HEB and other national and regional chains.
Experts recommend checking the state Department of Health websites regularly for information. Some states offer information on vaccine safety, details on who will now qualify for vaccines, and ways to sign up for COVID-19 and vaccine alerts. These websites are listed below.
