Roy Spencer on “What Latest Ocean Warming Says About Future Warming” – with that?

The Heartland Institute

In our fourth series in the series, which will be broadcast live on June 17th, Roy Spencer, Ph.D., Senior Researcher at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, gives a glimpse into his presentation at the Heartland Institute’s 14th International Conference on the Climate Change (ICCC-14) on 15.-17. October in Las Vegas. In this preview, Spencer discussed “What recent ocean warming says about future global warming”.

The warming predicted by the latest climate models in response to a doubling of the atmospheric CO2 average near 4 ° C. Using an updated model – and even assuming that all of the warming is due to human activity – Spencer and a colleague suggest that future warming is likely to be much less. Even if we don’t reduce human carbon dioxide emissions, the world could achieve the United Nations’ stated goal of limiting warming to no more than 1.5 ° C by the end of the century.
