Public help for unions on the highest stage for many years, this week within the struggle in opposition to the employees
Gallup’s annual Labor Day vote on union approval is out, and unions hit their highest level since 1965. 68 percent of people told the polls that they approve of unions. In 1965, 71% said they had agreed.
The highest approval rating to date on the survey was 75% and came in 1953 and 1957. The all-time low was 48% in 2009. While the Great Recession was seen as the reason for this low of 2009, the COVID-19 economy was obviously didn’t have the same effect. It’s a fascinating shift. Also interesting: the support among the 18 to 34 year olds was 77%.
Yet union membership is much, much less than public support – which directly indicates how difficult it is for both employers and US labor laws to organize.
