Polls present that Trump’s warfare in opposition to voting has entered his cultists
Another victim of Trump’s charade – support for auto-enrolling people to vote – has dropped 11 points among Republicans to 38% since 2018, but still enjoys a strong majority participation of 61%.
A practice overwhelming by members of both parties has been for voting machines to print paper backups of ballot papers in order to create a paper trail – 86% of Republicans supported this, as did 81% of Democrats. Overall, most of the measures to expand electoral access were broadly supported by the Democrats, while the Republicans found much less support.
total | republican | democrat | |
---|---|---|---|
Automatic registration | 61% | 38% | 82% |
Restoring voting for offenders who served their time | 70% | 55% | 84% |
Early personal consultation required for at least two weeks | 78% | 63% | 91% |
Make election day a national holiday | 68% | 59% | 78% |
Paper votes required for electronic machines | 82% | 86% | 81% |
All voters must present government-issued photo identification | 76% | 93% | 61% |
Remove voters from registration lists who have not recently voted or confirmed registration | 46% | 68% | 27% |
It’s worth noting that many of the provisions of the For the People Act, the bold Democratic voting law that cleared the House, still enjoy strong majority ownership, including automatic registration that allows offenders who have served their time to to vote in advance – in personal voting access for at least two weeks, which makes election day a national holiday and a paper path for electronic voting devices is required.
The bill would also restrict some GOP-supported provisions, such as voter purge, which Americans as a whole do not generally support.
