eijing has gone into “emergency mode” after five more Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the Chinese capital on Saturday.
Another positive case has yet to be officially confirmed as the patient has not yet shown any symptoms.
The most recent cases all came from the north of the city, in Nanfaxin Township, Shunyi Town. near Beijing International Capital Airport.
A total of thirteen infections have been detected in Beijing since the first local infection in 152 days was reported on December 18.
“There have been a lot of sporadic outbreaks. The disease control situation is very serious“Said a government spokesman for Beijing on Sunday.

Beijing Happy Valley, a theme park in southern Beijing, said in a statement that all night sessions starting Monday would be canceled and a live New Year’s Eve concert had also been canceled.

Let’s hope Beijing quickly gets its recent outbreak under control. Although the known number of cases is currently very low, the virus could spread very quickly in a densely populated, high-density city like Beijing.
