Meteor Blades is retiring and it’s unimaginable for me to completely categorical my love and respect for him

One of my biggest mistakes as a person is a real weakness in telling people how much I value them, and I have certainly never told Tim enough about it in these 18+ years. I hate having to retire to express how much he means to me, his friendship, his writing, his camaraderie, his scholarship, his humanity. I love the depth of passion and knowledge he has always brought with him on topics like his beloved Native American rights (he’s a proud Seminole), climate change, peace, and green technology. His love for this community is almost unmatched. His advice and advice has been invaluable.

Tim promised me not to be too sentimental and i try my best to conform. He has promised to visit him from time to time and if we’re lucky we can get him to take a Featured Writer slot so he can keep bringing his knowledge to the site.

This is a reminder that time goes on relentlessly, isn’t it? Next year Daily Kos turns 20 and none of us are immune to time. On the plus side, we see the growth and maturation of Millennials and Zoomers – two incredibly progressive generations who are already dramatically changing our policies for the better. On the other hand, we’re getting old. That is not a negative! Passing the baton on to these new, energetic, motivated teens who refuse to accept the status quo and fight so hard for positive change is poetry is poetry. But it still hurts to lose that wealth of wisdom.

Daily Kos started out as my soap box, but it didn’t last long. Tim is one of the people who helped make Daily Kos what it is today. This place would look very different without him, and for the bad. It’s a gratitude that I can never repay. But as much as it hurts me to see him go, I also look forward to the fact that after decade after decade after battling the good fight, he can slow down.

Tim i love you Thank you for all you have done for a better world, a better country and for Daily Kos itself.
