Hottest month? Garbage! – Watts with that?

More shameful coverage by the BBC (complete with a disgusting use of a photo of the Turkish forest fires):
July was the world’s hottest month ever recorded, a US federal agency for science and oversight reported.
The data show that the combined land and ocean surface temperature was 0.93 ° C (1.68 ° F) above the 20th century average of 15.8 ° C (60.4 ° F).
It is the highest temperature since records began 142 years ago. The previous record of July 2016 was achieved in 2019 and 2020.
Experts believe this is due to the long-term effects of climate change.
In a statement, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the “unenviable distinction” was a cause for concern in July.
“In this case, first place is the worst place,” NOAA administrator Rick Spinrad said in a statement.
“This new record adds to the worrying and disruptive path that climate change has set for the world.”
The combined land and sea surface temperature was 0.01 ° C above the 2016 record.
In the northern hemisphere, land surface temperatures reached an “unprecedented” 1.54 ° C above average, beating an earlier record set in 2012.

In the real world, temperature anomalies in July are well below the highs of 2015 and 2016 and barely higher than two decades ago, even according to NOAA:

And to claim that they know the temperature of the world to within a hundredth of a degree is ridiculous. Far from the full global coverage implied by the BBC’s map above, below is actual coverage:

Much of the world has no coverage at all, and much of the rest is affected by UHI. In contrast, satellites provide virtually 100% coverage, others around the poles, and are not damaged by UHI. Data from these satellites shows that atmospheric temperatures are no higher now than they were in 2002:
