GOP Seditionists are all of the sudden fearful about division
The most striking aspect of the calls to unity, however, is who they come from. Of course, it’s the worst of the worst offenders – the GOP lawmakers, who supported Trump at every turn, reiterated his dangerous and misleading fraud claims, and voted for his objections to certification, in a fascist effort to disenfranchise the will of the people.
Kevin McCarthy, chairman of the minority House of Representatives, lamented last week that the impeachment would “only divide our country further”.
“I reached out to President-elect Biden today and plan to speak to him about how we need to work together to bring the temperature down and unite the country to solve America’s challenges,” McCarthy tweeted.
Save it, Kev. The only worthy thing McCarthy has to offer the country is to step down and leave Congress after pouring gasoline on the fire that exploded in the Capitol last week.
The same goes for Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who was one of the first Senate Republicans to say he would join members of the GOP House to refuse certification of the electoral college vote. On the day of the violent attack, Cruz, who was uniquely responsible for fueling the unbroken fervor that ultimately cost lives, accused people who played no part in the incitement.
“Stop fomenting the division. Stop spreading hatred,” Cruz tweeted at Beto O’Rourke last Wednesday after O’Rourke noticed that Cruz “Self-service attempt to incite the people “had inspired the attack and the attempted coup.
It is really special to hear these rioters now calling for unity after nearly destroying the country in four years. If there is any salvation grace here, it is calling for McCarthy, Cruz, and Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri to step down.

Dem. Sen. Whitehouse (Justice): “The Senate Ethics Committee must consider the expulsion or reprimand and punishment of Senators Cruz, Hawley. Because of a massive potential conflict of interest, Senators Cruz, Hawley, and Johnson must be excluded from any relevant committees. “

Tomorrow I will present my resolution to expel the members of Congress who tried to overturn the elections and instigated an attempted coup by white supremacists that killed people. You violated the 14th amendment.
Without accountability we cannot have unity.

“Without accountability we cannot have unity” is spot on. If the likes of McCarthy, Cruz, Hawley, and others who helped drive Trump supporters into this frenzied escape to no avail, they will simply continue to poison the well for their own benefit in the long run.
