Dr. Birx is now attempting to say that she was a sufferer. No, she was fatally complicit

Like many in Trump’s orbit, Birx decided to ditch her decade-long reputation in order to live up to Donald Trump’s incessant demands for flattery. It’s disgusting when he let cabinet officials do it but a doctor about a deadly pandemic? Unforgivable.

Although Birx knew that Trump was full of lies and downplaying all risks, and knowing that those lies would prove fatal, she said this a year ago today:

He was so attentive to the details and data, and his ability to analyze and integrate data was a real asset in these discussions of medical issues.

This is too much BS for even Trump supporters who never try to argue that Trump pays attention to details. It didn’t save her from being yelled at either, which she admits was a problem when she was on these news programs. On the CNN special, she talks about how she was always “watched” to justify why she was gushing. Regrettable.

That kind of cowardice is why she sat still while Trump uttered utter nonsense about “injecting disinfectant” into people’s lungs to kill the virus. Even Lysol had to make a statement telling people not to inject their products.

Although Trump made these statements while constantly pointing and looking directly at Birx, she sat quietly. She was afraid she might get fired or yelled at, so she let this orange threat spit out nonsense without an ounce of recoil. CNN released their reaction while Trump spoke. She looked down and hoped he would stop talking to her. This was her chance to save lives, and she didn’t.

I’m not sorry for Birx. She is not a victim. She was complicit and deserves all the scorn that will follow her for the rest of her days. Lying politicians is one thing, but doctors need to be kept on a higher level. Sure, she’s not Ronny Jackson, the drunk train wreck of a White House doctor who falsely claimed Trump was 6 feet 3 and torn, but he never had a reputation for being. Until last year, Birx actually did.

Hope it was worth it.
