Biden Administration sends generators to Texas in the event of power outages

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a press conference Wednesday that the Biden government would send emergency power generators to Texas amid persistent blackouts and freezing weather.
Why it matters: Huge parts of Texas have been without power for days as the state’s power grid went down critically. The outages come as a winter storm continues to hit the state, creating unsafe conditions and a desperate need for heat.

Even if a storm like this only happens for 20 years it is now clearly unacceptable to go 100% renewable. People who depend on electricity for heating are in mortal danger when the only energy source is renewable energy and the renewable energy systems freeze solid in severe ice storms.
If there is a plan to maintain enough diesel backup to turn the lights on when renewables fail, renewables will never be affordable. Consumers are burdened with the cost of maintaining the renewable infrastructure and the additional cost of maintaining a full second set of operational energy infrastructures, ready to turn on when the renewables fail.
