The Democrats’ Jan. 6 ticktock video is a searing indictment in opposition to Trump
“We will stop the theft,” Trump tells his rally goers in the first few frames of the video. “And after that we’ll go down – and I’ll be with you – we’ll go down to the Capitol …”
Cut to the source video from the crowd, with several people screaming, “Yeah … let’s take the Capitol!” Another trumper in the crowd helpfully points his colleagues at the Capitol and yells, “We’re going to the Capitol, where our problems are – it’s this direction.”
The text in the video states that “Trump continues his speech and a wave of supporters marches to the Capitol”.
Action reaction. Trump directs his cultists to the Capitol – they go to the Capitol. Trump tells them to “fight like hell” and they fight like hell. Trump says that when you catch someone cheating, “you can obey very different rules,” and they use very different rules.
Then Trump prepares his vice president for a crash among his supporters and concludes, “I hope Mike has the courage to do what he has to do.”
As Trump knew very well, Vice President Mike Pence had already told him that he had no authority to reverse the election results during certification.
On the floors of the House and Senate, lawmakers are fulfilling their constitutional duties as Trump’s rabid rioters break the brink and soon after begin to roam the halls looking for lawmakers. Pence is led away from the floor of the Senate Chamber, as is spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi from the Chamber of the House. Legislative speeches come to an abrupt end when they are told that the mob is now in the building and those who can be evacuated will be evacuated.
Action reaction. Trump sends a tweet criticizing Pence for failing to overturn the election. Chants of “Treason! Treason!” break out among the rioters inside while “Traitor Pence!” becomes a collective call outside the building.
Two hours after the Capitol riot began, Trump tweeted a video of himself saying, “There has never been a time like this when something like this happened, when they could take it from all of us, me, you, our country. This was a fraudulent choice, but we cannot play into the hands of these people. We must have peace. So go home We love you. You are something special. You saw what happened. You see how others are treated who are so bad and so angry. I know how you feel. But go home and go home in peace. “
Back at the Capitol, angry rioters continue to demolish the building, beating police officers and destroying the equipment they have confiscated from various journalists.
At the end of the video it says at least seven people were killed and more than 140 police officers sustained physical injuries, not to mention the psychological trauma that persists in many others to this day.
Four hours after the Capitol break-in began, Trump was celebrating the deadly chaos that had just unfolded in the heart of our nation’s government. “These are the things and events that happen when a holy landslide election victory is so unceremoniously and viciously deprived of great patriots who have been treated badly and unfairly for so long,” Trump tweeted. “Go home with love and in peace. Remember that day forever!”
